On this month’s Meet Your Guide in Rome we’ll introduce MARCO a most entertaining guide at Italy Segway Tours, who’ll make your tour unforgettable!
Hi! my name is Marco Del Vento, born in ROME in 753 b.C. I have two brothers, twins, one called Romolus and one called Remus… but one happens be missing since a while!!! any news?
NAME OF TOUR YOU LEAD AND WHERE?
I proudly lead all of the activities powered by italysegwaytours.com, italyfoodculture.com & italycruiserbiketours.com since 2008… lotsa fun I never want to miss out!!!
YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE TOUR?
Of all the tours that I lead, what I love best is to make all feel as locals and enjoy town from the point of view of an insider… and drinking from a “Roman Nose” is one of those things that anyone can do , but ONLY locals do properly!!!
FAVOURITE LOCAL RESTAURANT IN YOUR CITY?
First rule for restaurants:
- eat everywhere as long as there are no waiters inviting you in
- make sure that menus have no english translation.. it means it’s a local spot
- never order the wine of the house… enjoy botteld wine
- NEVER EVER order a cappuccino after lunch or dinner… only espresso coffea is allowed or you’ll be commiting a real Blasfemy!!
- Back streets off main tourist attractions should be preffered
If you follow these simple rules you’ll find pleasant places to enjoy the roman vibe for your lunch or dinner. The best pizza place in town: Pizza Forum, Via di San Giovanni in Laterano, in the Colosseum area. The best restaurant: Romeow, Via Franceso Negri 15, in the Ostiense neighborhood, 10 minutes walk from the Pyramid.
ONE THING VISITORS TO MY CITY CAN’T MISS?
The Orange tree gardens is the “not to miss place” while in rome ( and the Rose Gardens in may & june )
TRAVEL MANTRA? Go, eat, talk, smell, see and… dream for long after
WHAT’S NEXT ON YOUR TRAVEL BUCKET LIST? Short hawl: Milan , a great place with a superb karma.
WHAT YOUR BEST TIP FOR THOSE COMING TO VISIT ITALY? Go on tour with a local is the best suggestion I can give to future travellers coming to Rome
WHAT’S THE FOOD THAT SOMEONE MUST TRY IN YOUR CITY BEFORE LEAVING??
The “pizza al taglio” – slice pizza – with patatoes and rosmary ( no cheese !!! ) it’s mouthwatering! And from May to October a huge slice of local watermelon will beat the heat.
WHAT’S THE MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE YOU HAD ON ONE OF YOUR TOURS?
Memorable experiences I have them each time I go out on tour but having to share one, the engagements beat them all! Such moving experiences from all points of view…it happened riding a segway… wonderful!
WHAT MAKES YOUR TOUR UNIQUE?
I love leading tours because I am so proud and deeply in love with my hometown, you’ll all fall in love for it as much I am!!!
When booking your tour in Rome, make sure to ask for Marco and have a blast with all your family!
