Just landed and now the question is….How to get from the airport to Milan’s center? Well, yes, it depends on what is your airport 🙂 since Milan has three! Once you’ve verified which airport you’ll be landing at in Milan, use this list to find the best solution for you!
Milano Malpensa (MXP): the second biggest Italian airport is about 50 km away from the city center, if you’ll land here you can choose to take the train, bus or taxi.
Train – The Malpensa Express train departs from terminal 1 (T1) every 30 minutes and the quickest ride takes only 29 minutes. A one way ticket comes for 12€ (round trip valid 30 days comes for 18€) and children over 4 and under 14 years have a reduced price. Depending on where your hotel is located, you can chose to get to Milano Centrale (Central Station), Milano Porta Garibaldi or Milano Cadorna.
Bus – the Malpensa Shuttle offers a non-stop connection every 20 minutes between the Milan Central train station and Malpensa Airport and stops at both terminals, T1 and T2. It takes 40 minutes and the one-way fare costs 10€ (the round trip 16€).
Cab – Of course you can chose to take a cab, which has a flat rate of 90€ from the airport to any destination in the city.
Milano Linate (LIN): The most central Milanese airport is connected to the city by bus. You can take both the line 73 or the line X73 (non-stop but not running during the weekend), and in about 40 minutes or less, you’ll arrive right in the heart of the city: Piazza San Babila, 10 minutes from the Duomo, not bad! Another plus is the price, just 1.50€, since is considered a urban fare. You can check the timetable on the website of the Milan public transportation company.
The price for the ride by cab is difficult to say, since it depends on the traffic situation.
Orio al Serio (BGY): The third airport is located near Bergamo and is usually the hub for low-cost flights. To get to Milan the best solution is to take one of the buses departing from the airport. There are three Companies providing the connection and the ride takes about 50 minutes. To low cost flights, match low cost buses…the cheapest one-way ticket comes for only 5€!
